A three hour service. This is when Jesus hung on the cross and died. Matthew 27:45 ‘From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out… he gave up his spirit’. Centuries ago (in the 1600s) a service to watch with Christ in these last hours was held. Our service will consist of a meditation called ‘Nine Hammer Blows’. Each of the nine sections will be about 10 minutes long. People are free to come and go throughout. There will then be a period of silence for the time remaining up till 2pm. At 2pm there will be a service of hymns, readings, a PowerPoint of the Stations of the Cross with music, and prayers. At 3pm leave this service in silence.
