Julian Trust
At present the trust offers up to fifteen beds for overnight accomodation in a large dormitory. These are quickly filled and sadly would-be guests must therefore be turned away. The shelter regularly provides over eighty hot meals each night that it is open. Other services are also available from time to time.
The Julian Trust was named after Julian of Norwich: her practical support for the poor was inspirational . She was a fourteenth century nun who dedicated her life to those in need in her home town.
The Trust's principle, drawn from her teaching, is:
"To love a human being is to accept him as he is;
if you wait until he is different you are only loving an idea."
This has led the Julian Trust to operate an 'open door' policy from the start for those who present themselves at the Night Shelter, with no questions asked and no forms to be filled in.
Mother Julian's example of individual caring has also inspired teh Trust to be a wholly voluntary organisation with no paid staff.

Our parish directory is woefully out of date. The last one was produced almost four years ago. An up to date directory is vital, so we need to know that your information is correct. If you have started coming to St Luke’s since 2006, or have changed any of your details since then, please let us know. Over the coming weeks there will be a form at the back of the church for you to enter your details. Since we last updated the directory, a great many more people have acquired email addresses. It would be great to have emails as well as phone numbers, so please leave details if you can. Email
