Choir
The small adult choir endeavours to lead the worship particularly at morning services. The two longest serving members, Linda and Anne both live about 14 miles out of the parish. Both Graham and Linda are willing to sing solo during the quiet period while communicants approach the chancel for Communion.
We are very pleased to have some others who help with weddings and Christmas music, however, we are always delighted to welcome ANY new singers. The Secretary arranged a lunch at Stockwood Golf Club, where we took the opportunity to thank Olive Russ and Kate Hardy for their enthusiasm over many years, with gifts and flowers. We are ably led by our fine organist, Colin Lukins, and with his help we will continue to lead the praise to our God.
St Luke's junior choir continues to show the enthusiasm it always has for helping to lead the worship of our church. We have in the past year sung anthems at Harvest Festival service and Christmas carol service.
We have also led a recent Parade service and were very involved in this years nativity service and were once again greatly appreciated when e sang at the Gilton House carol service.
During the summer we celebrated end of term with a sunny picnic in our well kept grave yard, which was very enjoyable.
We continue to sing as wide a range of music as possible, ranging from the top of the pops You raise me up, to the traditional hymns from ancient and Modern and of course singing at most of the weddings in church. As well as music we explore the Bible, each week looking at eh Gospel reading for that week and discussing it, as the old Victorian hymn says "Tell me the stories of Jesus I long to hear", and we take turns in reading these stories, aloud.
Our team of Debbie, Kathy and Graham take the choir rehearsal at 6.45pm every Thursday night and would welcome any new young people who would like to join us singing at St Luke's.
Activity
Our parish directory is woefully out of date. The last one was produced almost four years ago. An up to date directory is vital, so we need to know that your information is correct. If you have started coming to St Luke’s since 2006, or have changed any of your details since then, please let us know. Over the coming weeks there will be a form at the back of the church for you to enter your details. Since we last updated the directory, a great many more people have acquired email addresses. It would be great to have emails as well as phone numbers, so please leave details if you can. Email
