Bellringers
In 1988/89 all six were removed from the church tower and sent to Whitechapel for tuning. Meanwhile, the old oak frame was removed by members of the church in preparation for replacement by a steel frame by a team from Whites at Appleton, with help from some church members.
Unfortunately, during the retuning process the fourth bell cracked and had to be recast. However, eventually the bells returned and were re-hung in a new configuration with the second placed higher than the other bells. That is how things remain today.
Our day trip is usually by cars but our weekend trip is by coach, driven and arranged by one of the ringers.
We are happy to welcome visitors to either of our trips whether ringers or not. Visitors are always welcomed by the bell ringers at St. Luke's, ringers and non-ringers alike. Non-ringers will be offered the opportunity to see the bells and may be offered to chance to "have a go" ringing one bell under the stict supervision of one of the ringers.

Activity
Our parish directory is woefully out of date. The last one was produced almost four years ago. An up to date directory is vital, so we need to know that your information is correct. If you have started coming to St Luke’s since 2006, or have changed any of your details since then, please let us know. Over the coming weeks there will be a form at the back of the church for you to enter your details. Since we last updated the directory, a great many more people have acquired email addresses. It would be great to have emails as well as phone numbers, so please leave details if you can. Email
